Patch 3.3: Return of an Old Friend

Major Changes: Scourge Strike Gets a Hug

Scourge Strike: SS is getting redesigned, thankfully. The new version of ss deals 50% of weapon damage plus 400 as physical damage. On top of that for each disease of yours on the target it deals an additional 25% of the damage dealt as shadow damage. Since unholy should have 3 diseases up at on targets at all time, that's 75% of the original damage done as shadow. This damage does double dip into any talent that increases damage and increases shadow damage. It also can crit separately than the physical damage and scales if the physical damage crits.

Glyph of Disease: This will no longer "roll" the ap values of the diseases, instead it will cast the diseases (rune free) each time they are refreshed.

Unholy Blight: down to 10% of Death Coil damage.

T9 4 Set Nerf: Icy touch is being removed so only blood plague can crit now.

Glyph of Icy Touch: Changed to increase the damage of frost fever by 20% instead of giving 10 rp every cast. This will make up for some of the dps loss that will result from frost fever not being able to crit anymore.

Army of the Dead: Cool down reduced to 10 minutes untalented and reduced by 2/4 minutes when talented. The cast time has also been reduced to 4 seconds, down from 6. To compensate for the reduced cool down it now does 50% less damage.

Bone Shield:The duration of this has been increased to 5 minutes up from a very inconvenient 1 minute. A huge quality of life buff and makes this talent worth taking again.

Specs: Mostly Still the Same, Kind of

Unholy:  With the new scourge strike a couple things change - spec, rotation, and stat weights. The new dps spec will still be 17/0/54 but with a very different stat distribution. We will once again be maxing Bone ShieldEpidemic, and Reaping. To compensate for this we will take a point out of Morbidity and we will now completely ignore Necrosis. The rotation will also change significantly but should also feel familiar. The 3.1 rotation returns to the fore front and it will look like - IT-PS-SS-BS-BS-DC then SS-SS-SS-DC-DC. Also with SS having a large portion of physical damage associated with it armor pen and haste will switch spots in weights so gear priorities will be: hit to cap>str>expertise>crit>arm pen>haste>agility. So it's time to find your arm pen pieces that you may have had lying around and throw a couple of them on, on a side note warriors can go back to hating our presences.

Blood:  Not a lot of changes here. The big one is the change to the glyph of disease. Blood rotations will revert back to its original form of DS>IT>PS>HS>HS>DS then HS>HS>DS>HS>HS>DS>DS. With the change to AotD blood dks will be able to have them for pretty much every fight with the return of trash in ICC.

Frost: Only change here is icy touch glyph and the AotD change. Everything else stays the same.

Tier 10: Nice Hat

I guess we are supposed to be coal miners now? At least our raid team will be able to see in the dark.

The 2 set bonus is really nice for t 10 - increasing the damage by Obliterate and Scourge Strike by 10% and Heart Strike by 7%. This will be worth breaking the 4 set t9 bonus as soon as you can get your hands on 2 pieces of this set. The 4 set bonus increases all damage done by 3% when all of your runes are on cool down. This should be up after your first rotation in any spec and, as long as there aren't huge breaks in dps time, should be able to be kept up for the entirety fight.

There is a lot of armor pen on our tier (263 on the 25 man level armor set) so it won't be to hard to stack it. There is though a glaring lack of hit. Normally we get at least 2 pieces with hit on them this time only our gloves will have it, so start looking for off set pieces with hit on them. Thankfully there is 0 haste on our set, first time all expansion. Our legs have expertise on them  and everything has crit on it, lots and lots of crit.

Here are the individual pieces:

Head Shoulders Chest Hands Legs
